KINETIC BOUQUET

MECHANICAL FADING MOTION

March 2011

The Kinetic Bouquet consists of 4 identical mechanical flowers emulating a wilting motion. The stems bend and fall with the combination of four linked bars and a thread system. The 3 petals of each flower are closed by a triangular worm and gear system. RGB LEDs fade out and give you the opportunity to choose any colour you want in the RGB spectrum for your bouquet.

The challenge of this project was to drive every single part of the bouquet simultaneously with only one geared motor.

The Kinetic Bouquet is born from an initial concept which aimed to encourage water consumption when eating by highlighting its benefits on the organism through the interaction with a decorative object. The sketch below illustrates this interaction. Each time the user fills his glass with water, the stems stand up, the petals bloom and the buds get brighter. Water thus appears as a source of vitality.
